Wow... what a Finale!
You could almost hear jaws dropping everywhere when David first appeared. What an astonishing transformation. He is unrecognisable from the day he started out on this once-in-a-lifetime journey, hoping to be crowned the first ever winner of The Biggest Loser Asia.
Well, his dreams have come true. He's taking home the winner's prize of US$100,000 thanks to his incredible weight loss. He's shed 83kg or 53 percent of his starting body weight, going from 157kg as one of the heaviest contestants, to a very lean 74kg.
David says, "I never thought I would say this but it feels great to be a loser. Asia's Biggest Loser! It's by the grace of God that I have won especially with strong competitors like Carlo and Aaron. I am still amazed by my transformation. I've been overweight all my life and have never felt healthier and stronger than I do now."
Following King David from Indonesia was first runner-up Filipino chef, Carlo, who lost 49 kilos from his initial 132kg frame, for a total weight loss of 37 percent. Carlo looks years younger thanks to his svelte new shape.
Aaron from Malaysia came next with a 60kg weight loss down from his starting weight of 159kg. The final results were based not just on overall weight loss percentage but also on the amount of body fat lost.
Martha was the only female of the four finalists and the youngest of all the contestants. She also achieved an impressive weight loss of 40kg. From her initial weight of 127kg that equates to a 31 percent weight loss.
Some of the other contestants who had been voted off also looked amazing at Finale. Hafiz and Garry, who both used The Club to continue their weight loss at home, are loving the benefits of their much lighter and healthier bodies. Tony looked really fit and healthy too.
While Zenny Salihuddin, 19, missed out on a place in The Biggest Loser house, that didn't stop her from embarking on her own weight-loss journey at home. She lost 30kg from her original 104kg frame, which equals a total weight-loss percentage of 29 percent.
