Meet Marion

Brains and beauty. Marion Caunter is quite the petite package. But how does The Biggest Loser show host stay slim with her hectic schedule of travelling and presenting when she's often living out of a suitcase? What’s the atmosphere like between the contestants when the cameras are off? And how does she resist her favourite food temptation? We caught up with her between filming sessions.

You’ve got to know all of The Biggest Loser contestants. Do they inspire you?

Totally! They push themselves to the limit and never give up. Even when they're having a bad week on the scales, they continue to train hard the very next day. Seeing them motivates me to work out even harder and encourages me to achieve the things I’ve always wanted.

So what’s it like when the cameras are off. Are there cat fights or is everyone friends?

There's definitely an element of competition between the contestants – but they're also team players. That's what makes this show so great. The players bond with each other and help one another because, at the end of the day, they’re all in it to lose the weight and turn their lives around for the better.

What is the atmosphere like in the mansion?

It’s nice and relaxed. The mansion is a sanctuary for the contestants – it’s where they unwind, rejuvenate and recover from their rigorous training and challenges.

Have you picked up any tips and tricks from the show yourself?

It’s certainly made me a better, stronger and much more patient person. I’ve realised I need to really step out of my comfort zone.

Okay, so you’re a model and a TV presenter. Do you feel pressure to stay slim yourself?

Of course – I think everyone on TV feels the pressure to stay slim! But I’m quite health conscious anyway. Even if my job didn’t demand it I would watch my weight.

How do you keep your figure?

I don’t follow fad diets, instead I do it the old-fashioned way. I watch what I eat, keep an eye on the carbs, limit unhealthy snacks and work out.

And which food do you find it impossible to resist?

That’s easy! Nasi lemak.

How do you keep fit?

I work out at my home gym about three times a week by running and by doing light weights.

What do you enjoy most about healthy living?

When you’re healthy, you just feel good in general. I’m constantly travelling, so living healthily gives me the energy to carry out my day-to-day activities and the stamina to stay active throughout my shoots.

You’re a fashionista – can you look stylish at any size? Is it important?

I love dressing up and I love looking good. And there’s nothing wrong with that, whatever your size! Taking pride in your appearance is so important. It creates a great impression when you meet someone for the first time. For me, it just makes me feel good when I step out of my house. It may sound superficial but dressing nicely most definitely lifts my spirits!

What is your most memorable moment on The Biggest Loser?

It has been an amazing journey so far – from the first day I met all 16 contestants, every step has been memorable. I can't wait to crown Asia's next Biggest Loser at the finale.
